Dimple Kapadia in her first film "Bobby" became a legend. She displayed an
abandon and natural spontaneity in her acting that lifted the film above its
simple story line and helped make "Bobby" a classic of Bollywood cinema.
Dimple went on to make a handful of films after "Bobby" and then she married the
actor, Rajesh Khanna. She retired from films and had two children. Then after
over ten years she went through a bitter divorce and left Rajesh with her kids
in tow. It had been 12 years since she had been in a film and she made her
comeback in "Saagar" opposite Rishi Kapoor who had been her costar in "Bobby".
If the short skirted 14 year old of "Bobby" had created a sensation in her
first film the 27 year old divorced mother of two created as big a splash
with her comeback in "Saagar" when she flashed her exposed breasts to the
camera for a few quick frames which was a shocking first for a mainstream
actress in a Bollywood film. Dimple was back and as hot as ever.
In 2001 Dimple played the part of Tara the alcoholic divorced mother who is the
love interest of a much younger Akshaye Khanna in Farhan Akhtar's "Dil Chahta
Hai". It was one of the best performances of Dimple's career.
